Coco and Colette will christen the holiday shopping season with a quick road trip to Chicago, and they couldn't be more excited! They packed their graphic weekender bags and donned some comfy shift dresses with wool tights for the trek. The girls love to travel in their funky oxfords because one, its easiest to drive in flats and two, they want to check in to the Thompson looking their sassiest. They planned to take the Gold Coast by storm from start to finish.
The girls also packed their fun, little poloroids that can print photos with sticky backings. They figured that way, while they whoop it up around the Magnificent Mile, they can leave little souveniers for their new friends. Est-il pas intelligent, non?
Since Colette did the bulk of the driving, Coco nestled in with Devil in the White City, the award-winning book about the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and its serial killer. She was captivated, yet Colette was annoyed that she kept sharing "the good parts," and feared her bestie was ruining the book should she read it. Colette tried ignoring her by listening to her favorite podcasts instead.
When they arrived at the Thompson, they were immediately struck by the warmth of the mid-century decor in the luxurious, loft-like lobby. Colette noticed that one of Chicago's buzzed about restaurants, Nico Osteria, was right next door, while Coco was smitten with the David Beckham look-alike at the check-in desk.
After stopping at the bar for Americanos, the girls hurried to the elevator, which they were over-the-moon to discover was playing The Ramones! Coco said, "Okay, the Thompson is sooooo us." Colette hearily agreed.
They couldn't wait to see the views of Lake Michigan from their room, and maybe catch a glimpse of the Magnificent Mile, too.
They were giddy with anticipation of the adventures that await.
