On a damp Saturday morning in November, Coco and Colette set out on a dog-walking adventure in Forest Park. The official reason was that Colette owed her neighbor a giant favor in payback for that time he got her out of quite a pinch. She'd prefer that I don't share the details of that debacle. Let's just say she owed him one.
So, when he had to leave town on business, Colette agreed to care for his pup, a cute Shepherd-mix with an affection for table-food. Colette was not happy about that, especially when he swiped her morning muffin.
The unofficial reason the girls took the dog to the park was to meet cute and eligible boys, and indeed, it worked. They had planned thier "unplanned dog-walking look" days before, and both felt their outfits said both, "We didn't plan out outfits at all," and, "look at how practical our boots!"
The mayhem started when the dog chased a squirrel around a tree, completely tangling Coco into a pretzely mess. Colette had run into the boat house to use the loo, and when she emerged, she saw a handsome runner rescuing Coco. Colette had the brilliant idea to discreetly record the whole thing, just in case it turns into true love.
As the runner untangled Coco, her Hunter boot flew off, and the Shepherd mix went after it with gusto, thinking she had just invented a fun game. The runner managed to pry it loose and even helped Coco put it back on. The whole scene was too cute for words, and Colette felt her heart bursting with happiness for her friend. (Coco had suffered a heartbreak a few weeks back, and this was just what she needed to rekindle her spirits.)
The only negative was that Coco's outfit got dirty and she had to fish mulch out of her hair for hours. It was all worth it, of course, because the runner asked for her number and they planned a date for the following weekend.
